Great Shots

Bronte Edwards, Twyford Comets’ under 13 striker, was unable to attend the annual Twyford Comets’ presentation evening with Reading star striker, Simon Church. She had a nasty accident (not football related!), causing her to break her femur. Having already spent two weeks confined to a hospital bed, with another possible five weeks, Simon was asked whether it was possible for him to present Bronte’s trophies at the hospital. This he kindly agreed to do. Simon spent over an hour with Bronte on the evening, presenting her with trophies, plus a signed football and football stickers. The visit cheered Bronte up no end and she asked Simon several questions, along with the other squad members who were there. Brian, Bronte’s coach / manager, said, “Simon made a young girl feel very special that evening. He spent over an hour with Bronte and the other members of her team. He had pushed back a visit to the physio for himself that evening in order to attend the hospital. He was also due to play an international friendly that weekend. I’d like to say a big thank you to him, as he was a great credit to himself and his club.”

A Madejski Stadium crowd of more than 22,000 fell head over heels in love with Twyford Comets when our boys and girls took part in the half-time penalty shootout and the pre-match guard of honour for the game against West Bromwich Albion.
