About us
Twyford Comets Football Club
Founded in 1972, Twyford Comets Football Club has provided a safe and friendly environment for junior football to the local community. We now field up to 20 teams most weekends, including three girls teams, from under 8s all the way up through the age groups to under 18 playing in various local leagues. We also cater for younger children with our Saturday morning soccer school which meets at King George V Recreation Ground, Twyford and provides a fun and excellent start to the game before moving into organised league football.
In 2006 we celebrated the 25th anniversary of our link and exchange with a similar youth football club in Ulestraten, Holland. Every other year we take our U13 squad out to Holland to play a series of games and see the local sights over a 5 day period. In the alternate years we entertain the Dutch squad which culminates in a cup final at Henley Football Club.

In 2007 we gained FA Charter club status. This is now the desired standard for all clubs to attain to ensure that not only are the children getting the best possible coaching, equipment and facilities but we have the correct procedures in place for child development and welfare, first aid and CRB checks for all our volunteers who run the club and the various teams. As part of this programme every Comets team has at least one qualified FA level 1 coach assigned to it, passing on the knowledge, skills and etiquette of the game to ensure that our youth play the game in the right way and in the right spirit.
We have gained an excellent reputation and are highly regarded by many local clubs, leagues and organisations that we have come to know well over the last 35 years. As the club goes forward in the future we have many plans to improve and provide the best possible facility for the growing demands of youth football in Twyford.
